The curse of the perfect prototype: how to move from idea to the table?

Natalia Wojtowicz will present about the design choices made in the latest game about protests in Belarus, I'm Not Afraid. She will discuss the selection of elements, balancing of mechanisms, difficulty of making things simple and depiction of the dictatorship. In this talk, you will hear about choosing the topic, and how to bring it from an idea to the table.

Natalia Wojtowicz is a lecturer in wargaming and cybersecurity at the Hague University. She is teaching wargame design in the Safety and Security Management Programme, where she draws from her books on Wargaming Experiences. Previously, she worked for NATO, where she developed new formats responding to current challenges. Since then, she has been working on innovation in wargaming, contributing to many volumes, including Forging Wargamers. In 2023, I'm Not Afraid, a game about Belarus, was funded on Kickstarter.
